Grandparents Day count

Parents, if you haven't returned the green Grandparents Day paper to school, please do so as soon as possible.  We need to get a count of the number of Grandparents/Special Guests that will be coming with your child so we can have enough craft projects and enough tables to accommodate everyone during lunch time.  We also need to know if your child will be going home with their grandparent or staying at school.

My class and  Mrs. Owens's classes will be eating at 11:00.  Mrs. Rhonda and Mrs. Wettig's classes are eating at 11:45.

The Book Order has arrived!

The September book orders arrived today!!!  Purchases were sent home today and I will send them home tomorrow too with the Tuesday class.  Thank you SO much to everyone that ordered!  Because of your orders, the classroom received a FREE 10 pack of books!  I can't wait to share these with the students. :)

Reminder, there will be no book club orders the month of October due to our Scholastic Book Fair.  You are invited to come to school and browse the fantastic selection of books that will be on display.  The Book Fair starts next week on the 15th and goes until the 21st.  It will also be held during our Grandparents/Special Guest Day next week on the 16th and 17th.  Grandparents and Special Guests are invited to browse!

More "Music in Motion"!

I met Diana Lesjak today and she is so excited to do the "Music in Motion" classes with our students!  The staff and teachers are excited too!  It will be a great time and I can't wait to post some pictures!  Check out The Parkway Independent.  They posted the article about our program AND posted the link for the blog!!! Look what I got over the weekend!  New music to use with the kids!  :)  Can't wait to give these a listen and find new songs to use during our music and movement time!

Red Bird, Red Bird!

This week we wrapped up our beginning of the year thematic study of birds.  Starting next week, we begin our fall unit and start talking about all things fall!  I have several fun fall themed projects and activities planned for the students.  We are going to use our hand prints again to create pumpkins and bats for the bulletin board outside our classroom and make an art gallery in the hallway of a beautiful fall forest complete with finger print leaves.  These will be displayed just in time for our Grandparents/Special Guests Day.

The students made sponge paint red birds.  Earlier in the week, the students sponge painted the bird bodies.  Today and Monday, they will put the bird together.  Here are some from Friday's class.

So sorry for not posting my normal posts during the course of this week.  On top of the Fog Days, I got sick and have not felt up to posting much.  I did not go to school Wed and Thurs.  Today was my first day back and I will do my best to catch up on this weeks posts, activities and pictures.  There will be no Friday Favorites post this week and I will try to post more updates about our up coming events.
