H is for Halloween

It’s been a fun week so far! The last two days were filled with Halloween fun! We played games, completed Halloween projects, and went trick or treating in the building. The students were able to dress up and bring treats. The students had a blast!

Jack-o-Lanterns

Last week we also carved jack-o’-lanterns and the kids shows shapes for me to cut into the pumpkin for the face. Each child had the chance to reach into the pumpkin and pull out the seeds inside.

We also had the chance to see firetrucks at school! The van work fire department talk to us about fire safety and showed us around there firetruck. We even got to look inside! 

G is for Ghost

Last week for the letter G, we colored ghosts white for morning work.

Pumpkins

We also did a pumpkin exploration 2 weeks ago. We cut open a pie pumpkin, added dirt and water and started watching and waiting for the pumpkin seeds to grow from inside the pumpkin.   During the activity we talked about the life cycle of a pumpkin and three things that seeds need to grow, dirt, water and sun. The kids also decided the best place to place the pumpkin would be in the windowsill so it could get light.

Unfortunately, our poor pie pumpkins did not last long and became so yucky I had to throw them out.😢 I was able to save the seeds and re-planted them in a bowl so we could continue to watch the plants grow. The last time we checked one of the plants really took off and started to grow. We will check the pumpkin plants this week and will hopefully post pictures soon. Here is the picture from the original exploration.

F is for Frankenstein!

Two weeks age we made paper plate Frankensteins for the letter F. They turned out really cute!

Busy week

What a busy week we are having!

Monday no school for Columbus Day.

Tuesday school was canceled because of fog.

Wednesday is family fun day for the two day class.

Thursday is family fun day for the three day class.

Friday is a full day of school for the three day class.

We have lots of things going on this week so the blog posts may be on the low side.  Day one of fall festival went great and we are ready for day two with the older kids. We are studying about the letter E and this morning we used orange ink and animal stamps to stamp orange animals all over egg shapes.
