A is for apple!

More pictures and updates!  When we studied the letter A, we learned about apples and made some apple crafts.  We marble painted and the students created an apple by cutting out a circle from the marble painting and adding a stem and leaf.  The students also used little apples to trace the letters in their name.  They also played with play dough.  During letter B week, we studied bears and the students brought in special teddy bears or a stuffed animal to share with the class.  For the letter C, the students could wear caps to school.  Look for more letter activities during the rest of the school year!

Wild About Learning!

The beginning of the year was wild!  Literally!  We started the year with a wild jungle theme and created some jungle inspired projects.  The students made lion masks out of  a paper plate.  Once the mask was complete, I had each child wear his or her mask and roar like a lion. :)  I took their picture and added it to the "It's a Jungle in Here!" bulletin board in the classroom.  I am taking the board down today and the pictures are coming home.  The students also played with a sensory tub filled with rice, beans, and wild animals.  They could move the animals, rocks and trees in the rice and also play with the rice and beans.  The students have been playing in the water table and the art center making their own works of art using the craft items sent in by parents.  Thanks again!  Students added spots to a giraffe and used animal cookies to make a cute safari inspired picture.

First Days of School

Finally!  Here are the posts and updates!!! :)  These pictures are from the first day of school.  We made apples for the Van Wert County Fair.  The students ripped up red paper, glued the pieces to a green apple, and pressed their hand print in a green ink pad to make the stem.  The 2 day class went outside and played with sidewalk chalk.  Since is was so hot on Tuesday when the 3 day class came, we stayed in side and the kids played with water in the sensory table!  The students also played with sensory bottles.  Two were filled with water and water marbles.  The students were able to shake and tilt the bottles.  The third was filled with rice and tooth picks.  They could shake and tilt the bottle to make sounds like rain fall.

Stay tuned!  More picture and posts to follow.  I also hope to update some of the tabs too!
